Rochester 2027-28 budget: City asks residents to share priorities on housing, arts, and other needs

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — City officials are asking Rochester residents to share their priorities as work begins on the 2027-28 budget.

City Budget Director Suzanne Warren said her team is meeting residents face to face to hear what matters most as they start planning the budget.

“So people would think you’re a bunch of bean counters back in budget. This is a great opportunity for us to get out and meet people where they are and get their input on what’s important to them,” Warren said.

Housing and arts have been popular topics, and officials said the feedback will help shape the mayor’s proposal.

Residents can also complete an online survey, which will be on the city’s website until Nov. 9, or join a telephone town hall with the mayor on Oct. 26 to share their views before the budget is finalized next year.
