Ridge Runners bar in Clarkson hit by burglary, owners boost security

CLARKSON, N.Y. – Ridge Runners Bar and Grill, a beloved establishment in Clarkson, experienced a burglary on July 6. News10NBC’s Declan Stablow spoke with the owners about their recovery efforts.

Michelle Gallo and her husband Richard, who have owned Ridge Runners for about eight months, were shocked by the break-in. Security footage from around 3 a.m. the night of the burglary captured two people stealing dozens of liquor bottles and emptying cash registers.

The burglars also took $1,800 worth of food, forcing the bar to close for a day. Although they reopened the next day, Gallo said she hasn’t fully recovered emotionally.

“I was terrified only because it just felt violating just to go through the scenario that someone broke in,” Gallo said. “It’s a homey place for a lot of the locals, so it was uncomfortable and it was terrifying to think that could ever happen to me.”

The Gallos have taken measures to prevent future incidents, including boarding up the entry point, installing new security cameras and a new alarm system, and limiting cash on hand.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, but no suspects have been named. Gallo said the community has rallied around them.

“We have like 600 shares on Facebook from that one post, which is amazing,” Gallo said. “The people in the community are all talking about it, our regulars have all been talking about it, they’ve been sharing every bit of information they can get.”

Recovering from the burglary, including replacing stolen items and installing security upgrades, may take weeks or months, Gallo said. AI assisted with the formatting of this story.
