ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Police Department arrested six people during a prostitution detail on Lyell Avenue on July 9.
All six were charged with patronizing a person for prostitution in the third degree.
The men arrested:
- Stephen Aldrich, 56, from Port Byron
- Gerald Pickering, 68, from Victor
- Michael Winston, 62, from Rochester
- Ty’Mir Puryear, 25, from Rochester
- Alexander Fico, 40, from Irondequoit
- Omid Daryoush, 23, from Rochester
Gerald Pickering was the Webster Police Chief and was employed by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Department before that. He sent News10NBC the following statement:
“Yesterday, July 9th, in the early afternoon in the City of Rochester, I was arrested for Patronizing a Prostitute.
As a retired law enforcement officer, I certainly am aware of the law as well the negative impacts of this incident. I will handle this matter earnestly and honestly. I hope to regain the trust of our community in the near future.
I am incredibly sorry for the pain, embarrassment, and shame this arrest has caused my family, friends and the community at large.
I thoroughly respect and appreciate the difficult and important job of the Rochester Police Department Officers.
I will have no additional conversations with anyone except my family and my faith.”
