HENRIETTA, N.Y. — Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies said a Rochester man has been arrested after he robbed a Dollar Tree and assaulted an employee on Thursday.
Deputies said they responded to the store around 4 p.m., located at 2660 East Henrietta Road, for an active robbery.
When confronted by employees, Edwin Luis Oquendo, 37, of Rochester, hit an employee in the face and threatened the employee with a knife, deputies told us. Additionally, Oquendo moved toward the employee, swinging the knife, causing the victim to fall. MCSO said the victim received minor injuries, and Oquendo then ran from the scene and drove away.
The sheriff’s office, along with Brighton police, later found his car on Winton Road, near Newton Drive in Brighton, leading to Oquendo’s arrest.
Charges and arraignment
Oquendo was charged with robbery in the first degree, attempted assault in the second degree, assault in the third degree, petit larceny, and criminal mischief in the forth degree.
He was arraigned in CAP Court and went to the Monroe County Jail on $15,000 cash bail/$45,000 bond.
