ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Pulling My Sister Up women’s support shelter celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Located on Spencer Street, the shelter aims to help end homelessness for women and children. It also offers counseling and support groups.

“We are here giving away Christmas gifts for children, and also Christmas gifts for women,” said Ebony Giffin of Pulling My Sister Up.

“What better way to welcome the community to our shelter with this grand opening, and we’re also serving hot food to the community,” Giffin said. “We want to invite everyone out to what we’re doing today.”

The nonprofit was founded in 2016 and has been growing ever since.
