Police: Rochester man crashes truck into building, DWI arrest

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester police said a pickup truck crashed into a building on South Clinton Avenue on Sunday morning, later charging the driver with a DWI.

The building that was crashed into is PPG Paints, 566 South Clinton Ave., police told us. It happened around 5:50 a.m., near the avenue’s intersection with Alexander Street.

Police said the crash caused significant damage to the building, and the driver, a 20-year-old Rochester man, was the only one in the truck. He was arrested and charged with a DWI, later taken to a hospital to be evaluated, but he didn’t have any obvious injuries or complaints, police explained.

An investigation is ongoing to evaluate the building’s stability.
