HORNELLSVILLE, N.Y. — A person is in custody after a police chase on Thursday that started in Brighton crossed multiple counties, ending about 70 miles away in Steuben County.
The chase involved New York State Police and deputies from Monroe, Livingston, and Steuben counties. Police began the chase on I-390 in Brighton and it continued across Livingston County, before ending in the next county over in Hornellsville. News10NBC’s photojournalist saw the chase end in a field near State Route 36.
Livingston County sheriff’s deputies confirmed that no one was injured during the chase. Later, the suspected driver was injured by a dog bite. Deputies say charges are pending against the driver. A witness spoke about the chase.
“A green SUV was right here in front of me, with a state trooper right on him,” the witness said. “They got to the house on the other side of the road and ran him off the road. I watched that. He got out, tried to run away, and the K9 unit was right on it.”
We’re working to learn why police were chasing the car. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
