ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Officials from the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport say an American Airlines plane partially went off the runway Thursday night.
According to officials, the American Airlines flight was leaving for Charlotte, N.C., when the pilot took a wide turn off the ramp onto the runway, and slid into the grass.
About 90 passengers were on board, but nobody was injured, officials say. The passengers are deboarding the plane and being brought back to the terminal.
Officials say a large tow truck will be coming to tow the plane, and it will need to be inspected to determine if it can leave Thursday night. Officials say this was not weather-related.
According to the airport website, only two flights have been delayed, both of them Delta flights departing from the Rochester airport. You can see all the delays by clicking here.
Rochester Airfield Operations Officers and airport firefighters responded immediately and are on scene assisting. This is a developing story and will be updated as we learn more.
