NEW YORK — For drivers who travel on the Thruway, get ready to pay more next year.
Toll rates are set to increase in January by 5%. Under the increase, New York E-ZPass customers will see the base toll rate rise from 4.5 cents to 4.9 cents per mile.
Drivers with out-of-state E-ZPass accounts and those paying through Tolls by Mail will face a higher rate of 8.6 cents per mile.
Want to know how much a trip along the Thruway might cost you in 2027? The Thruway Authority has a toll and distance calculator, which allows drivers to calculate tolls based on their entry and exit points.
This is part of the thruway authority’s multi-year toll plan. The Thruway Authority says toll revenue helps cover operating costs, debt and infrastructure improvements.
The last time the Thruway increased toll rates system-wide was in 2024. Before that, the Thruway hadn’t increased tolls system-wide in 14 years.
