ALBANY, N.Y. — You might see state troopers getting around on some new wheels soon. State Police are adding Ford Mustang GT patrol vehicles to their fleet.
The force has 19 so far, including a prototype that’s been used for training. The mustangs will be deployed in the Capitol Region this week, and statewide in the following weeks.
State Police say the mustangs’ performance and maneuverability will be effective for addressing aggressive driving and speeding.
According to State Police, the mustangs are actually 30% cheaper than the patrol SUVs that are also being added to State Police’s fleet.
