ROCHESTER, N.Y. — New legislation could give seniors a break on their property taxes.
Under a new bill signed by New York Governor Kathy Hochul, seniors statewide could be given a property exemption of up to 65%. Eligibility depends on your income and other criteria.
This could save some up to $300 a year.

Before this bill, exemption was capped at 50%. Localities can decide whether or not they want to opt in.
It builds on Hochul’s affordability agenda.
