Mother of Zane Johnson, who went missing in early July, says her son is dead

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The family of Zane Johnson says his body has been found. Zane’s mother told News10NBC that he died; she said she found out on Friday. Officials haven’t confirmed this information.

Rochester police and family members were looking for Zane, 14, who went missing around 11 p.m. back on Monday, July 6, on the El Camino Trail.

News10NBC spoke with Zane’s mother, Chassidy Johnson, who said her son left their home on Conkey Avenue after an argument.

She said he was heading towards El Camino Trail behind their house.

Neighbors called Chassidy saying they saw Zane on their security footage around Avenue D near an old Kodak building. He headed towards Maplewood Park.

Chassidy said Zane called her just before midnight to let her know he was on his way home, but he never showed. Now then went straight to voicemail.

“So Zane has unfortunately been found; he did pass away, okay. I don’t know yet; I’m still waiting to hear details. He did pass away on Friday. I would imagine. Well, I found out Friday,” Chassidy said.

“I’m taking it day by day,” Chassidy added.

Again, officials haven’t confirmed Zane’s death.

This is a developing story; we will update this article when we get more information.
