IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — The Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation District says heavy rainfall in March caused the landslide in Irondequoit that forced at least one family out of their home.
News10NBC has done several stories on the landslide on Carlsam Drive since April 3. Recently, homeowners impacted by a landslide met with town officials, but were still left with questions about next steps.
The conservation district says several rounds of heavy rain in March saturated the ground, and the storm at the end of the month, which caused flooding, caused the slope to collapse. Erosion around the creek below the embankment over time also contributed.
More land has crumbled since News10NBC first reported on the landslide. One neighbor said he’s losing more of his yard each day.
