Monroe County Executive announces the launch of Virtual Senior Center for adults 60 and up

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monroe County Virtual Senior Center (VSC) is set to launch after being announced by County Executive Adam Bello on Monday. The free program offers live interactive social, health, and educational programs for adults aged 60 and above.

Older adults who will use the VSC can participate in livestreamed classes and activities, while interacting one-on-one with peers and instructors through video chats from home.

Seniors will be able to virtually interact in activities and classes such as arts, exercise, history, music, games, technology training, science, among other aspects.

“Monroe County older adults deserve opportunities to stay connected and engaged, regardless of mobility challenges or transportation barriers,” said County Executive Adam Bello.

This program is provided by the Monroe County Office for the Aging. It is in partnership with Enlivo, a mobile app for older adults.

Those interested will need a home computer or laptop with a webcam and mic. A tablet or iPad is also accepted.

To sign up or learn more, call the Monroe County Office for the Aging at (585) 753-6280 or email mcofa@monroecounty.gov.
