Man sentenced to prison for 2 assaults in Rochester in 2024

 

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man will serve two years in prison for two assaults in Rochester just 45 minutes apart from each other.

Back in June 2024, Alexander Ortiz assaulted a man while yelling homophobic slurs on Monroe Avenue near Wilcox Street. Ortiz tried to hit the man with his car, followed the man to his workplace, and attacked him inside.

45 minutes after that, Ortiz hit someone with his car in the parking lot of the Price Rite on University Avenue. Orders of protection were issued for both victims.

Ortiz previously pleaded guilty to both assaults. He was sentenced to two years in prison, plus two years of post-release supervision on the first assault charge, and 364 on the second assault charge, to run concurrent to each other.
