Investigators say in December 2025, Fiero was a truck driver who saw Leo walking on the side of the road. After offering Leo a ride, Fiero learned Leo was a homeless veteran.

For the next month leading up to his death, investigators say Fiero made sure Leo was fed and had shelter. According to prosecutors, Leo attacked Fiero out of anger.

Leo is set to be sentenced in November.
