CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — A man has been arrested after an investigation into a “terroristic” threat toward an event at the Granger Homestead and Carriage Museum in Canandaigua.
Michael Keitz, 56, of Ontario County, is charged with making a terroristic threat. Canandaigua Police say he was also wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service in connection with a bank robbery in Buffalo.
Police say Keitz made a threat on Friday toward the Christkindl Dance at the museum. Organizers decided to cancel the Christkindl Dance planned for Saturday for the safety of guests, volunteers, and staff.
Canandaigua and New York State Police worked to determine where the threat originated and arrested Keitz on Sunday. The Canandaigua Police chief said they believe that Keitz had sent an email to the Granger Homestead, asking for a free ticket to the event, and sent the threat when he didn’t get a reply.
He was taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment. There’s no word on whether the Christkindl Dance will be rescheduled. Granger Homestead announced the event cancellation on Facebook on Saturday, writing:
“We understand how disappointing this news is for those who were looking forward to this cherished event. We sincerely appreciate your understanding, cooperation, and continued support of the Granger Homestead. Information regarding ticket refunds and any potential rescheduling will be shared as soon as possible. Updates will be posted on our official website and social media channels.”
