JAVA, N.Y. – A traffic stop for speed on State Route 78, in the Town of Java, resulted in the arrest of 48-year-old Daniel Mercado of Buffalo for DWAI Drugs.
Mercado was arrested for felony DWI drugs Leandra’s Law, after it was discovered his 13-year-old son was a passenger in the car at the time. He was taken back to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he tested positive for cannabis, and was unable to operate a vehicle safely.
He was charged with DWI drugs, aggravated DWI Drugs with child passenger less then 16 years old, and speed in zone.
Mercado was processed and given an appearance ticket for all his charges, and is due back in the Town of Java Court on 07/19/23.
