LIVE SOON: Deputies to speak to the media about deadly U-Haul crash into the Erie Canal

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) says it plans to speak to the media about it’s ongoing investigation of the deadly U-Haul crash that ended in the Erie Canal.

The crash happened on Tuesday night during a police chase. Deputies say it started when two men, Ryan Armstrong and Reginald Russell, stole stuff from a Walgreens and wouldn’t stop when police tried to pull them over. A chase started, and ended when the U-Haul drove into the Erie Canal.

MCSO says it will speak to the media at 2:30 p.m. Friday. News10NBC will be there and live stream the media conference in this story and on our YouTube and Facebook.

The driver, Armstrong, was able to swim to the other side and get out of the water. The passenger, Russell, drowned in the canal. Armstrong faces manslaughter charges, and was in court on Thursday.
