ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Local athletes shined at the Olympic Games, bringing pride to the Rochester area with their impressive performances.
Pittsford native Chris Lillis claimed his second consecutive gold medal in mixed team aerials as a skier. However, Lillis finished eighth in the individual event earlier in the games.
Dylan Walczyk, another Rochester native skier, finished seventh in dual moguls and 13th in men’s moguls. Both Lillis and Walczyk trained at Bristol Mountain during their youth.
Webster native Haley Winn made a significant impact in USA women’s hockey, scoring a goal and providing three assists. Her efforts helped the team secure their third gold medal in the sport and finish the tournament undefeated.
Winn was joined by four other Bishop Kearney alumnae, who also contributed to the team’s success. Laila Edwards scored eight points, and Carolina Harvey added nine points. There were also three other BK graduates who competed in women’s hockey, but for other countries.
