Legislature approves Monroe County’s $1.567 billion operating budget

 

MONROE COUNTY, N.Y. — The Monroe County Legislature Tuesday passed the county’s 2026 operating budget by a 27-2 vote.

The $1,567,679,468 spending plan includes $11 million in additional funds for daycare subsidies, according to the Legislature’s Democratic Majority Caucus. The caucus said new growth in the budget is primarily focused on maintaining the county’s workforce and serving those who need assistance.

The property tax rate will be down to $5.67 per $1,000 of taxable value, according to the caucus. The 2025 budget’s tax rate was $6.03.
