(SRNN NEWS)-The term refers to special, university-sanctioned events honoring LGBT graduates. They began in 1995 and have since become popular on many college campuses — including some that might surprise you. This spring, 19 Catholic universities will reportedly host a lavender graduation as will several associated with Protestant traditions — including Eastern Mennonite University. More than 500 colleges and universities observe the events nationwide.
