Kitten recovering and up for adoption after man sentenced for fracturing its leg

 

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — A man will spend six months in jail after pleading guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals and other charges.

Keaghn Picaro was sentenced Tuesday after humane society investigators say he hit a kitten multiple times, fracturing one of its back legs. The abuse happened on Christmas.

Picaro was also sentenced to five years of probation. Prosecutors say as part of the sentence, he is prohibited from owning, purchasing, or being around any animals.

The cat, named Smokey, is recovering. Smokey is now up for adoption at the Ontario County Humane Society.
