IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Job seekers connected with more than 30 local employers Thursday at the Irondequoit Winter Job Fair. The event took place at the Irondequoit Community and Recreation Center in the former Irondequoit Mall.
The free, in-person event was open to all job seekers. Employers included UR Medicine, Eastman Kodak, and several government agencies.
“We certainly know there are so many folks who are looking for work who might not have been in the job force for a while, who might be looking for part-time opportunities, who might be working but underemployed,” said Laura Seelman, business services manager with RochesterWorks. “So we really want to give an opportunity to those folks.”
“It helps me get a good grasp on the qualifications on the things I need,” said Marcus Johnson, a job seeker. “And I got help for what locations are best suited for me, what times, all that.”
RochesterWorks also offers free job search services promoted through Facebook, newsletters, and community calendars to reach as many people as possible.
