GREECE, N.Y. — A Hilton woman has been contesting a $250 fine for nearly a year after receiving a ticket for passing a school bus in Greece. The ticket was issued last April as part of the Monroe County School Bus Safety Program operated by BusPatrol.

Christina Trinca-McManus said she was ticketed after being waved on by a bus driver parked in front of a Walgreens. She refused to pay the ticket and sent a letter back.

In May, Trinca-McManus received a letter from BusPatrol stating it was working on getting her a hearing date. However, she said she has not received any updates since then.

Trinca-McManus said she made several calls to BusPatrol’s citation support line but only reached a person once in November. She was informed it could take up to a year to review all the material.

“It’s the communication that’s bothering me. There’s lack of communication. No one’s responding to you or letting you know that they’re still, it’s still being reviewed,” Trinca-McManus said. “I have no information and no one seems to … no one’s communicating to me that they, you know, that this has been reviewed. So it’s very frustrating.”

Despite the frustration, Trinca-McManus said she supports the safety program and is willing to pay the fine if necessary, but she wants to ensure someone else reviews it.

News10NBC reached out to BusPatrol for more information on their review process. A spokesperson said they are reviewing the matter but could not provide specifics.
