HENRIETTA, N.Y. — The Henrietta Town Board has shared details on plans to build a new campus for the Mary Cariola Center at the former Marketplace Mall.
The center is set to be built on the building’s north side next to the former JCPenney. The parking lot is expected to be on the property’s northeast side. The documents from the town board included a rendering of the center.
The Mary Cariola Center will use the new campus to provide educational and therapeutic services to children with intellectual and developmental challenges. The nonprofit serves hundreds of children with disabilities in the Rochester area.
Officials say the new campus would merge existing campuses into more than 190,000 square feet at the Wilmorite Property. The project is still in the planning and review stage. It’s funded by a $25 million grant from philanthropist Tom Golisano and a $4 million grant from the state.
Marketplace Mall permanently closed in December.
