ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The State Department of Transportation (DOT) has filled over one million potholes on roads across the state so far this year, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s Office.

Hochul’s Office says more than 39,500 tons of asphalt were used to fill potholes in every region in the state, including the Finger Lakes.
In the Finger Lakes region, Hochul’s Office says 95,000 potholes were filled so far this year.
Back in March, News10NBC Chief Investigative Reporter Berkeley Brean reported on how the City of Rochester and the region are seeing fewer pothole calls and complaints this year compared to last year.
Brean found the city received half the number of pothole complaints this winter, partly due to consistently cold weather.
Hochul’s Office says this is part of the state’s road repair effort announced in April.
We’ve reached out to the City of Rochester for an update on how many potholes the city has filled so far this year but haven’t heard back yet. Check back later for updates.
