ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a legislative package Thursday with the goal of boosting homeownership and protecting renters.
Hochul says the homeowner package will make homeownership more attainable through tax incentives, and strengthen laws against home appraisal discrimination.
The package will also extend security deposit protections to rent-regulated tenants and limit the fees landlords can collect due to bounced checks.
In a press release, Hochul said this legislation will open more doors to homeownership and strengthening protections for renters, saying “every New Yorker deserves a safe, stable place to call home.”
