NEW YORK — Governor Kathy Hochul is declaring a state disaster emergency as the number of measles cases across New York continues to rise.
The order, signed Monday, allows more people to administer the measles vaccine across New York, including paramedics, EMS providers, pharmacists and midwives.
It also sets up contact tracing and expedited lab testing.
So far, there have been 108 confirmed cases of the measles in New York, including more than a dozen in our region.
Measles dashboard
In September, the State Department of Health launched a new measles dashboard to track the outbreak. The dashboard allows users to track confirmed cases by county. You can access the measles dashboard here.
The Steuben County Public Health Department launched its own measles dashboard. The tool is used to give the public timely and accessible measles information in the county.
