Gates celebrates America’s 250th birthday with parade of cars

GATES, N.Y. — The Town of Gates celebrated the United States’ 250th birthday with a parade of sports cars and vintage cars on Saturday afternoon.

People cheered as the parade traveled from the Tinseltown Movie Theater parking lot to Pixley Road, then to Buffalo Road, where it ended at Chili Middle School. People walking in the parade passed out candy to kids along the route. Some brought lawn chairs.

In honor of 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, News10NBC is airing a story every Wednesday at 5 p.m., highlighting the region’s connections with the Revolutionary War period. You can see our Freedom Frontier stories here.
