ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WHEC) — Stay with us for drive-by-drive updates between the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens.
FIRST QUARTER
Buffalo’s first drive: The Bills put together a near PERFECT drive, going 60 yards in 10 plays and finishing things off with a tush-push touchdown for Josh Allen. Khalil Shakir had a trio of catches for 49 yards on the drive. Bills lead, 7-0.
Baltimore’s first drive: Lamar Jackson, back after missing three weeks with an ankle injury, took one snap and left with a hand injury. Tyler Huntley replaced him and couldn’t gain a first down, with Baltimore punting after a drive that lasted just over a minute.
Buffalo’s second drive: The Bills didn’t have as successful of a second drive, although they did move the chains once, and nearly a second time, before an illegal shift penalty was called. Tyler Bass doinked a field goal through from 56 yards, good for his 19th straight make, a Bills franchise record. Bills lead, 10-0.
Baltimore’s second drive: Two drives and two punts for the Ravens whose second drive also stalled when a false start penalty took away a first down.
Buffalo’s third drive: The Bills started a drive with a Josh Allen interception on the first play, a ball bobbled by Jackson Hawes and picked off by Broderick Washington, a defensive tackle on the Ravens.
Baltimore’s third drive: The Ravens turned a turnover into points, with Derrick Henry finding the endzone on a rushing play for the first time since week four against Tennessee. Bills lead, 10-7.
SECOND QUARTER
Buffalo’s fourth drive: The Bills moved the ball a bit, with the big play being a Josh Allen rushing play where he juked out a Ravens defender. However, the drive ended after the Bills couldn’t convert on 4th & 4.
Baltimore’s fourth drive: On their third play of the drive, backup quarterback Tyler Huntley fumbled and Kaleb Elarms-Orr recovered, setting up the Bills in scoring position.
Buffalo’s fifth drive: The Bills took over on the Baltimore 20-yard-line and originally got stuffed on a 4th & 1. Upon review, James Cook barely picked up the first down and the chains moved. However, on 3rd & goal, they ran a play for Allen to run outside instead of a QB sneak, and he was stopped for a loss. Tyler Bass made from 23 yards out to extend the lead. Bills lead, 13-7.
Baltimore’s fifth drive: With Huntley now out of the game, Ravens’ third-string quarterback Joe Fagnano, from UConn, came in the game. After two straight completions, the Bills defense started to push them back with a sack and a couple of incompletions. Tyler Loop hit the upright from 34 yards out and unlike Tyler Bass, this one doinked out.
Buffalo’s sixth drive: The Bills nearly hit a home run play, but Josh Allen overthrew Keon Coleman by just a bit. Instead, it was a three-&-out and a punt back over to Baltimore.
Baltimore’s sixth drive: The Ravens followed up Buffalo’s three-&-out with one of their own, capped off by a TJ Parker sack on third down.
Buffalo’s seventh drive: The Bills converted on a 4th & 1 on the drive and later picked up a big gain on a Josh Allen to DJ Moore connection. However, Moore fumbled on the play and the Ravens got it back with 1:51 to go in the half.
Baltimore’s seventh drive: The Ravens tried to run a two-minute drill with third-string QB Joe Fagnano, but the rookie was picked off by a fellow rookie, Davison Igbinosun, thanks to a tipped passed by Geno Stone. Igbinosun ran it back a bit and the Bills took over with 1:08 left in the half and on Baltimore’s 33-yard-line.
Buffalo’s eight drive: On their eighth drive of the half, the Bills went backward instead of forward, until Josh Allen picked the 14 yards back up on a 3rd & 24. Tyler Bass was good from 51 yards out to put the Bills up two scores. Bills lead, 16-7.

Game preview
It truly feels like it has been forever since the Buffalo Bills were last in action. In week six, the Bills defeated the Las Vegas Raiders to improve to 5-1. Week 7 was their bye week, so a full 14 days later, they’ll finally play a football game again.
It really has been forever since Buffalo played a home game, last happening in week four against the New England Patriots on Oct. 4. That’s a long time for the local fans, who still have a new stadium to continue to break in.
And Highmark Stadium should be rocking for this week 8 game against Baltimore. The Bills and Ravens have been rivals over the last handful of years, purely thanks to Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson bringing both franchises years of joy and wins. It might not be the same magnitude as the Bills and the Chiefs, but the Ravens are still a worthy foe.
There are two huge storylines for this game. One is Lamar Jackson’s health. Baltimore’s quarterback hasn’t played since week four and is trying to get past a nagging high ankle sprain. The Ravens are just 1-2 in his absence and need the two-time MVP quarterback to be at their best.
Meanwhile, Buffalo is one of the hottest teams in football. The Bills have won two straight and now find themselves in a tie for first place in the AFC. Depending on how the Kansas City Chiefs fare against the Denver Broncos, the Bills could be in first place all alone, roughly halfway into the season. The postseason may not start in January, but things start taking shape more in November.
Years past
Lamar Jackson might have two MVPs to Josh Allen’s one, but the Bills have dominated this series since those two entered the league. Buffalo leads the series 4-2 since their first meeting in 2019, and has won four of the last five, including playoff meetings in 2021 and 2025. One might say the Ravens are due to get over the hump against a team that has given them trouble.
Player to watch: D.J. Moore
Moore has missed quite a bit of time this season, not playing since week four against the Patriots and also leaving early in a few of the games he did play in.
The setback has been a shoulder injury, and the Bills decided resting him would be better than Moore fighting to play through it. He didn’t suit up in weeks five or six, and the Bills still won both. Coming off a bye week, the thought is that Moore should be much healthier and ready to go.
We haven’t gotten to see how much Moore truly changes the Bills’ passing game, but with him on the field, it gives Josh Allen a consistent target and downfield threat. The stats may not be there to back it up, but the eye test says having Moore on the field is better than having him on the sidelines.
