News10BC’s affiliate in Oregon, KMTR, reports that Hampton was driving a car involved in a chase at around 4 a.m. on Oct. 18. He was charged with eluding police and reckless driving.

KMTR says state jail records show Hampton is no longer in custody. They also say police didn’t release any other details about the chase as it is part of an ongoing investigation.

Hampton is a freshman at the University of Oregon and a wide receiver for the football team. He was part of Monroe’s football team that won the Class B State Championship last year. This marked the first state title in Rochester Central School District history.
