First Alert Weather: Yellow Alert continues on Wednesday over flooding concerns

UPDATE: News10NBC’s Yellow Alert continues into Wednesday over flooding concerns after heavy rain the day before. Beware of high water by creeks and streams. Tune into News10NBC TODAY now through 7 a.m. for what to expect. Livestream the show here.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Our Yellow Alert will remain up into Tuesday night. The severe storms and most of the rain have moved out, but we’re still dealing with a handful of Flood Warnings and Flash Flood Warnings, and lots of reports of flooding. If you’re out and about into Wednesday morning, be aware of flooded roads. You’re better off turning around and finding another way than risking driving through standing or rushing water. We set a new daily rainfall record in Rochester for March 31st. The old record was 1.22″, and we recorded at least 1.37″ (with rain still coming down).

Wednesday will be a much quieter, but cooler day with highs back in the 40s under a mainly gray sky. A few showers will still be possible, especially later in the day, but we’ll be clear of storms.

We’ll then begin our next warm up, with highs back in the 50s on Thursday, and into the 60s on Friday and Saturday. At this point, Easter Sunday may start off mild, but a cold front will quickly drop our temperatures and rain as it moves in. So, plan on Easter umbrellas for Sunday services.
