First Alert Weather: Tuesday warm front brings snow to rain showers

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Some snow moves through the region this morning with amounts less than an inch. Temperatures not nearly as cold as yesterday starting the day around 20 and climbing well into the 30s this afternoon. When we go above freezing Tuesday afternoon that will be the first time in nearly three weeks! After a little snow to start the day, we see a chance for a mix to rain showers after the lunch hour. Even though the precip will fall as rain later today we have to be aware the ground is still solidly frozen and some light icing is possible on untreated surfaces. Watch for a few slick spots.

On Wednesday a cold front arrives with some snowflakes and slightly colder weather back below freezing. Some lake effect will kick up into Wednesday night and Thursday morning with a couple inches possible. Nothing heavy so no major impacts expected but do plan on some slick spots and locally snow covered roads. Clearing into Friday and Saturday. Weather looks fine for Valentine’s Day plans to start the weekend. A storm to our south with develop near the coast and needs to be watched. At this time it appears the impacts will miss well south and east Sunday and Monday. Next week should see more seasonable weather with perhaps a few mild days as pattern relaxes across the nation. Stay tuned to News10 for updates on lake snow later this week.
