First Alert Weather: Tracking seasonable weather Friday, then a cool November rain at times this weekend

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It’s been an exceptionally warm start to November so far, but we have some changes on the way. Cooler air will begin to filter in for the weekend, but we’ll get one more day of slightly warmer than average temperatures Friday, with highs in the upper 50s to near 60. It’ll be cool enough in the morning for a few lake enhanced rain showers off of Lake Erie early. Otherwise, we should see a good deal of dry time, but a mostly cloudy sky Friday.

An area of low pressure and associated upper level low moves overhead and gradually east this weekend. This will keep us cool and a bit unsettled through the weekend. Saturday will be the cooler and wetter weekend day, with highs holding in the 40s with frequent rain showers and a mainly gray sky. Sunday should see some improvement, with highs back into the low 50s. Some showers may develop late and into Monday morning as our next fast moving storm system moves in.

Looking ahead to later next week, there are growing signs of much chillier air moving over the eastern Great Lakes by the end of the week. Meanwhile, a potential coastal low develops. The combination of the two may produce our first flakes of the winter season here in Rochester. For now we’re just monitoring.
