First Alert Weather: Tracking chilly air and some wet flakes this morning, frost tomorrow morning

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It’s a chilly start to the weekend across WNY, with morning temperatures in the mid 30s to low 40s. A cold northerly breeze is also helping to spark up some rain showers down south, and these may include a few wet flakes as well… But this will only be in the highest elevations, and no accumulation is expected. Showers will quickly end this morning and skies turn clear for the afternoon. It stays cold however, with highs only in the mid 40s.

Overnight high pressure settles further in, which will keep the skies clear and wind calm, leading to even colder temperatures and widespread frost. There is even a freeze warning for the lakeshore counties until 9am tomorrow, so needless to say if you haven’t brought in any sensitive outdoor plants, do so now!

The rest of Sunday warms up nicely, however. Skies stay sunny and highs will be near 60 degrees. Afterwards, a blocking pattern sets up across the continental US with high pressure dominating over our region. This means you can expect the sunshine to stick around ALL WEEK… Alongside seasonable, reasonable daytime temperatures. Could not ask for better conditions for all your favorite outdoor fall activities. Just gotta get through these next few chilly mornings.

Stay tuned for updates!
