First Alert Weather: Tracking a chilly breeze and lake snow Wednesday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After long awaited above freezing (and even above average in general) temperatures yesterday, we’re back to chillier temperatures today… Still, not nearly as bad as what we were getting the past few weeks.

Some lake flurries this morning, then a cold front will sweep through the region this afternoon, bringing in a round of lake effect snow that could bring a few inches of accumulation, mainly near Wayne County. Nothing major, but roads may still be slick during the evening commute. Winds could gust up to 30 MPH.

Lake snow continues into tomorrow morning but will taper off throughout the day. It will be colder once again with highs in the mid 20s. Friday is similarly chilly, but dry.

Temperatures climb above freezing this weekend, and the weather is looking quiet right now… But a coastal storm may develop south of us. We’ll keep tracking that storm and its chances of impacting our area, but right now chances are low.

Much warmer temperatures at times next week, and the warming trend currently looks to continue past our ten day forecast.

Check back in for updates on the coastal storm and warmup!
