RICHMOND, N.Y. — Firefighters from several departments battled a blaze at a building on Pinewood Hill Road near Honeoye tonight. The Richmond fire chief says nobody was currently living there and no one was injured, but there is significant fire and smoke damage.
According to Richmond Fire Chief Jessica Miller, firefighters arrived around 6 p.m. to find the building — which she said contractors have been renovating to serve as rental property.
Miller said efforts were hampered in part by wind, blowing the flames back into the building and the arric space; and partly by the construction, with multiple roofs covered with a tin roof, trapping fire. At one point, she said, firefighters had to leave the building due to a roof collapse.
