ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office celebrated its annual promotion ceremony at the Paychex Theater in the Strong National Museum of Play. The event honored dozens of active deputies and staff members for their dedication to community safety and public service.
“They’re superheroes. I don’t use that as a cliche. They’re truly superheroes,” said Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter. “They put on a cape every day and they go into the unknown.”
Baxter highlighted the challenging environments deputies face, whether working in the jail or assisting individuals seeking a better path.
The ceremony came shortly after the approval of next year’s county budget. Officials said the budget includes a 9% increase in funding for the sheriff’s office to help recruit and retain more law enforcement members.
