Deputies: Woman arrested for hosting underage party where teen had .46% blood alcohol level

PENFIELD, N.Y. — A 49-year-old woman is facing charges after Monroe County sheriff’s deputies say she hosted a party where a 17-year-old had a blood alcohol level five times higher than the legal limit.

Deputies say on Oct. 31, they responded to a Penfield home for a report of a 17-year-old who hit his head and was unconscious. They say they were also called to the home for reports of underage people throwing things at vehicles.

When deputies got there, they say they found over 100 underage people in the front yard and in the street.

While going through the home, deputies say they confirmed there was alcohol in the home, claiming it contradicted earlier statements made by the homeowner, Medina Bijelic.

Deputies say they continued to go through the home and found the 17-year-old unconscious with a head injury. They say teens there told them the 17-year-old drank half a bottle of vodka and smoked marijuana before he fell and hit his head.

According to deputies, the 17-year-old’s blood alcohol level was determined to be .46%. The teen was brought to the hospital with serious injuries.

Since then, deputies say the teen has been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Investigators say they learned that Bijelic discouraged one of the teens from calling 911 for the 17-year-old that fell.

Bijelic was taken into custody Friday, and charged with the following:

  • Reckless endangerment
  • Endangering the welfare of a child
  • Unlawfully dealing with a child

Bijelic was issued a uniformed appearance ticket and expected to appear in court at a later date.
