SPARTA, N.Y. — A 28-year-old man has been arrested after being accused of starting a fire at a home in the Town of Sparta.
Deputies say it happened on Feb. 12 at around 2:18 p.m. They say they responded to a home for a person threatening to burn the house down.
When deputies got there, they say there was a fire in the upstairs part of the home, and they saw a man leaving an upstairs window heading to the roof.
The man on the roof, Davondre Smigalski-Jones, was taken into custody after deputies say they were able to get him off the roof.
Smigalski-Jones was arrested and charged Monday with arson in the second degree and three counts of reckless endangerment.
Deputies say that three other people in the home at the time of the fire were able to get out safely.
