ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A crash on Thursday morning in the Upper Falls neighborhood forced a car onto the sidewalk, hitting and injuring a crossing guard.
The crash happened around 9 a.m. at the corner of Joseph Avenue and Upper Falls Boulevard. Rochester Police say an SUV was making a left turn on Joseph Avenue and hit a sedan.
Officers say the chain-reaction forced the sedan into the 30-year-old City of Rochester crossing guard, but no students were crossing at the time. He was taken to the hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries.
No one inside the car was injured. Police say the SUV driver was cited for passing a red light.
