GREECE, N.Y. — Firefighters rescued a person trapped and helped several people evacuate after an apartment unit caught fire at Grecian Gardens on Sunday night.
The Ridge Road Fire District arrived around 8:30 p.m. and began searching the building off Duxbury Road after hearing about a person trapped. Firefighters say they quickly brought the fire under control and stopped it from spreading to any other apartment units.
One resident got medical attention at the scene and was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. No firefighters were injured.
The North Greece, Barnard, and Gates fire districts also helped at the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
