ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Crews battled two separate house fires on the city’s northeast side on Tuesday morning, one of which displaced three children and three adults.
The Red Cross is helping the children and adults after their house on Avenue D near Joseph Avenue caught fire. News10NBC began hearing reports of the fire around 6 a.m.
News10NBC’s photojournalist saw the side of the house charred and firefighters pouring water on each other to stay cool. At least a dozen firefighters were at the scene, chopping some charred parts of the home with an ax.
About an hour later, crews also responded to a house fire on Wilkins Street between Remington Street and Joseph Avenue. Our photojournalist saw crews using hose lines and an attic charred from the flames.
We’ve reached out to the Rochester Fire Department for details on these two fires, including whether anyone was injured. Check back for updates. The fires came during a Yellow Alert for extreme heat and humidity.
