NEWARK, N.Y. — A public meeting will be held Friday evening to address plans to end labor and delivery services at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

The hospital is closing the birthing unit, citing changing demographics and difficulty in recruiting OBGYN physicians as key factors.
The meeting is taking place at 5 p.m. at the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES on Vienna Street in Newark. The president of the hospital and the Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic will be there, along with the executive medical director of women’s health at the Rochester Regional Health.
