Cigarette butt disposal causes fire at commercial building in Henrietta Monday morning

HENRIETTA, N.Y. — Fire crews responded to a small but potentially dangerous fire Monday morning on East Henrietta Road.

Firefighters were called just after 9 a.m. for reports of a fire outside a commercial building. Crews arrived to find a cigarette butt disposal container near the front entrance had caught fire, damaging the exterior entry area.

Officials say a person passing by noticed smoke, called 911, and warned people inside, helping prevent injuries.

Firefighters quickly contained the flames, limiting damage to the building’s exterior.
