BRIGHTON, N.Y. — Two brothers that led police on a stolen car chase, which ended in a crash that killed a 92-year-old man in Brighton, learned their fate on Friday.

A Monroe County Court judge has sentenced driver Theodice Parks to 25 years in prison and passenger Theophilus Parks to 10 years. The brothers both pleaded guilty to assault in the August 2024 crash.

Rochester Police say Theodice, 17 at the time, drove the stolen Kia that crashed into a car driven by Thomas Chase at the corner of East Avenue and Elmwood Avenue. Chase, an Eastman School of Music graduate and avid volunteer, was returning from playing piano at a Brighton nursing home and died at the scene.

Theodice was originally charged with second-degree murder and aggravated vehicular homicide, but pleaded to lesser charges. Both passengers, Theophilus Parks, 19 at the time, and another teen, were charged with assault.

Police say the car was speeding over 100 miles per hour. The chase started as part of an investigation into gunfire on Maria Street off Clifford Avenue in Rochester. Theodice Parks was arrested at least 12 times before the crash, accused of using stolen cars to break into businesses. He was on parole for burglary at the time.
