ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Saint John the Evangelist Church honored Rochester’s newly beatified bishop with a special event.

A portion of Bishop Fulton Sheen’s hand was venerated at the church. Sheen served as bishop to the Rochester community from 1966 to 1969 and became one of the most recognizable Catholic voices in America through preaching, writing, television ministry and evangelization.


Friar Siriam Sadhanala helped lead the ceremony. The event marked a significant moment for local Catholics.
