ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Preseason is here! The Buffalo Bills are set to face the New York Giants Saturday at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Bills Mafia is eager to see its team in action, but one fan-favorite will not be playing. Starting quarterback and last season’s MVP will sit this one out.
Head Coach Sean McDermott announced that Mitchell Trubisky will start as quarterback instead of Josh Allen.
“Certainly want to be mindful of, Josh, mindful of any starter, mindful of any of our players,” said McDermott. “We never want to see them get injured. The benefit of this is, we hold Josh out, we keep him in a good spot. He’s been playing extremely well in camp, you guys have been out here.”
As for Josh, he’s putting trust in his coach to make the call.
“Just trusting what coach is saying, what he’s thinking, you know he’s the guy in charge,” Josh said. “So, following what he’s saying, that’s all I’m doing. If he said, “Play” I’d be playing. So, that’s how it is.”
