ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — After the Buffalo Bills’ playoff journey ended with a heartbreaking overtime loss in Denver, the Bills have fired head coach Sean McDermott, ESPN is reporting.
General manager Brandon Beane will lead the Bills’ search for a new head coach, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. During McDermott’s nine seasons with the Bills, the team has made the playoffs for seven seasons in a row, made it to the AFC Championship twice, but has failed to make it to the Super Bowl.
McDermott will finish with a 98-50 regular-season record in Buffalo and 8-8 record in the playoffs. That ranks second on the team list in wins behind Hall of Fame coach Marv Levy (112-70 for the regular season, 11-8 for the playoffs).
This is a developing story and News10NBC Sports is trying to get more details. Saturday’s 33-30 loss to the Broncos left many Bills players visibly emotional, including quarterback Josh Allen.
